Mr. Suleyman Yılmaz, the Representative of UNIDO in Turkey
Mr. Suleyman Yilmaz has been serving as the Representative of the UNIDO & Director of the UNIDO Centre for Regional Cooperation in Turkey since November 2009, having worked for the OECD Development Centre in Paris as Adviser, Economist-Policy Analysist with special emphasis on the Black Sea and Central Asia between 2007 and 2009.
Previously he worked as the Head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA)’s Field Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina-Sarajevo followed by his position of the Representative of the Turkish Standards Institute in Uzbekistan-Tashkent between 2003 and 2007.
He worked at the Directorate General of Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission in Brussels followed by his MBA degree in the UK, won by the Jean Monnet Scholarship of the European Commission in 2000.
He was the Rapporteur of the Industrial Policy Working Group of the Turkey-EU Harmonization of the Industrial Legislation conducted under the overall coordination of the former State Planning Organization (currently called as the Strategy and Budget Presidency) in 1995 while he was working for the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) where he started his career in 1993.
He holds MBA degree from the Warwick Business School (UK) in 2000, and MSc degree in Economics from Hacettepe University (Ankara) in 1998 where he ranked first at the entrance examination and BSc degree in Physics from the Middle East Technical University (Ankara) in 1993.
