Gergő Péter Kovács

Deputy Director, Research Institute of Agricultural Economics, National Agricultural Research and Innovation Center, Hungary

Gergő Péter Kovács is a Deputy Director at the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics which is part of the National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre (NARIC), Hungary. NARIC includes 13 research institutes in the field of agriculture and food science. He graduated from the Szent István University (SZIU) with a master’s degree as an agricultural engineer (horticulture and crop production specialization) in 2008. After graduation, he commenced a Ph.D. program at the Plant Science Doctoral School SZIU, which he finished in 2014. During the Ph.D. studies he was for four years, Director of the Szent István University Crop Production and Biomass Utilization and Demonstration Centre. The Centre main tasks were agricultural research and to provide an experimental field for bachelor and masters students to practice crop production. He also achieved a soil specialist and an alternative energy management specialist degree (postgraduate training programs) during the last years. He serves as a professional coordinator of (soil management and land use and crop production) research and development tenders in the Szent István University. Furthermore, he is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. His research fields are the following: sustainable crop production, cultivation systems under unfavorable field conditions, and biomass energy.
